This policy explains how machan. (“we”, “us”) handles information on this website. We try to collect as little as possible and to be plain about what we do with it.
What we collect
- Business listings. When you add, claim or correct a listing we collect the business details you enter (name, category, city, address, phone, WhatsApp, email, website, social links, description, hours). Business details you choose to publish are shown publicly once approved.
- Your contact details. Owner or submitter name, email and phone are used to review your submission and are not shown publicly.
- Messages and requests. Contact, advertising inquiries and city requests you send us.
- Technical data. Our hosting and database providers process standard request logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. We do not use advertising trackers. Your browser may store small preferences locally.
How we use it
- To review, publish, update and remove listings.
- To reply to your messages and advertising inquiries, and to verify ownership claims.
- To send occasional updates only if you ticked the optional marketing box. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honour opt-outs promptly, in line with CAN-SPAM.
- We contact you by phone or WhatsApp only about your own submission or listing. We do not send marketing texts or autodialled calls. If you ever receive a text from us, reply STOP and we will not text you again.
What we never do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not share your private contact details with advertisers.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the site: website hosting, database and serverless functions (Netlify), map tiles (CARTO / OpenStreetMap), fonts (Google Fonts) and payment links for paid placements (Stripe). They process data only to provide their service. We never see or store full card numbers.
Advertising and sponsored content
Some listings and banners are paid placements. They are labelled Featured, Spotlight or Sponsored. We may count how many times an ad is shown or clicked, without identifying you.
Removal and your choices
- Business owners can request correction or removal of a listing at any time using the correction or removal form or by emailing us. We act on removal requests promptly.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information you submitted. Depending on your state (for example California), you may have additional rights; contact us and we will respond as required by law.
Retention and security
We keep submissions only as long as needed to run the directory, handle disputes and meet legal obligations. Access to submissions is limited to administrators, and data is protected with access controls and encryption in transit.
Children
This site is intended for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
